It's Banned Books Week!

Every year, libraries get thousands of challenges to books in their collections.  Librarians fight for the freedom to read for all people by advocating to keep books on the shelves.  Support banned books week by reading a banned book!

Check out the display on the "brown hallway" side of the library for more information.

Summer is approaching...

Just because the STRHS Library is closed for the summer, it doesn't mean you don't have great resources at your fingertips.  All the databases in the library are available 24/7 over the summer.  And don't forget the public library!  There are some great programs for all ages including wool and water color painting, a Chinese cooking class, and a program on rescued rain forest animals. See the Southwick public library website for more information:

Summer Hours:
Monday 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Tuesday 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday 1:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Thursday 10:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Friday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

"NOT cool Robert Frost!"

Actually, Robert Frost was pretty cool, but so is KidPresident.

Can you think of alternate endings to these famous poems? How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
"Sonnet 43", Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
"Do Not Go Gentle Into the Good Night", Dylan Thomas

"Because I Could Not Stop for Death", Emily Dickinson

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness.

And it was at this age ... Poetry arrived in search of me. I don't know, I don't know where it came from, from winter or a river.
"Poetry", Pablo Neruda

She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies.
"She Walks in Beauty", Lord Byron
